2. Growing Medium:
  • Rockwool cubes or Oasis cubes (enough to fill the net cups)
  • Perlite or vermiculite (optional)

3. Nutrient Solution:
  • Hydroponic nutrient solution (specific to the type of plants you want to grow)
  • pH test kit or pH meter
  • pH adjuster (such as pH up and pH down)

4. Water Circulation System:
  • Submersible water pump (sized appropriately for your container)
  • Air pump
  • Air stones or air diffusers
  • Airline tubing
  • Timer (to control the pump's on/off cycle)

5. Net Cups and Plant Support:
  • - Net cups (12 or more, depending on the number of plants)
  • - Expanded clay pellets or other suitable plant support medium

Setup Instructions:
Follow these step-by-step instructions to assemble your DIY hydroponic system:

Step 1: Prepare the Container:
Drill evenly spaced holes in the lid of the plastic storage tote using a hole saw bit. These holes should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the net cups. The number of holes will depend on the size of your container and the number of plants you intend to grow.

Step 2: Mix the Nutrient Solution:
Follow the instructions provided with your hydroponic nutrient solution to prepare the appropriate concentration of nutrients in water. Use a pH test kit or pH meter to adjust the pH level of the solution to the recommended range for your plants.

Step 3: Set Up the Water Circulation System:
Place the submersible water pump in the container and connect it to a timer. Position the air pump outside the container and connect it to the air stones or air diffusers inside the container using airline tubing. Set the timer to provide intermittent water circulation and aeration, ensuring optimal oxygenation for the roots.

Step 4: Fill the Net Cups:
